Position Summary

As Planning Director you are responsible for overseeing the implementation recommendations. Working closely with the planning team in identifying and planning the optimal connections plans to deliver on client business outcomes across all channels (paid, owned, earned, and shared)

You drive the team to explore and identify non-traditional partnership opportunities and collaborate with UM craft specialities (BAE, strategy, and connections studios) to deliver on joined up thinking.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive all Planning division members in your team to develop a curious and rigorous approach to owned and earned marketing opportunities.
  • Own the collaborative & efficient workflow across multiple stakeholders (Trading Hubs, SBU’s & External).
  • Encourage and contribute to a positive and motivating work environment for the team.
  • On request contribute to new business activities of the agency (pitch).
  • Co-support the Group Directors in all Partnership Planning division PDP’s within your team to ensure performance goals are being met and opportunities for growth exist within the team.
  • Support UM Strategy to discover media and advertising & consumer trends across various connections points.
  • Lead the team to identify non-traditional / non paid partnership opportunities that can be explored as part of the connections solutions.
  • After client sign-off lead the briefing of Partnership Trading team with clearly defined objectives
  • Manage the Planning team and collaborate with Trading hubs to deliver the campaign and continue to optimise campaign performance throughout campaign period.
  • Lead the education & presenting to clients on all marketplace trends & ability to translate market trends into actionable insights relevant to client/category (collaborating with Trading Hubs)
  • In collaboration with Integrated Planning present the Connections Plan to client.
  • Leading across all core partnership / planning tools / systems.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • You have 7+ years’ experience within the industry and you have a fundamental and robust knowledge of the Australian media landscape across multiple categories.
  • Up-to date with communications industry and how it impacts UM.
  • Create a positive and motivating work environment of ideation and collaboration.
  • Have a detailed level of awareness of the breadth of services delivered by the SBU's and what revenue opportunities exist within each.
  • Ability to directly manage a team of up to five (5) people effectively, in addition to supporting the development of the junior trading team.
  • Remains consistently up to date about all media trends (both Australian and Global) and up to date knowledge of ever-changing media landscape.
  • Demonstration of strong problem-solving skills / come solution ready.
  • Market leading approach to driving the Connections Agency process.
  • Strong ownership of the development of all Connections Blueprints and Connections Plans.
  • Strong business communications skills.
  • Ability to identify non-traditional partnership opportunities.
  • Driving innovation & first to market opportunities with media owners and non-paid partnerships.
  • To have a voice and a point of view that adds value to client’s business and elevates you to advisory status.
  • Solid presentation skills for client recommendations.
  • Respectful to partners and mindful about the way we treat our agency partners and colleagues.
