Position Summary

As our new Design Director, Global Corporate Communications you will lead from ideation and creation to execution and implementation across all channels and mediums with specific specialty in presentation design, supporting the UM Global Corporate Communications team and select client teams, as needed.

 

You will develop new and exciting ways to craft messages and communicate business needs through visual storytelling. Part artist, you understand that brilliant creative work leads to engagement and success. Part scientist, you apply strategic best practices to all creative challenges. You are a mentor who encourages others to apply rigor to their work, no matter how small. Additionally, you are a doer, ready to get your hands dirty.

 

You will manage up to leadership and senior executives to help bring their ideas to life through thought leadership design templates, digital and print ads, website assets, event collateral, logo exploration and development and external and internal presentations.

 

As Design Director, you will also be seen as the standard-bearer for the agency’s aesthetic and will assist in larger scale projects, which may include logo/branding & identity systems, experiential/physical spaces, digital & emerging tech across multiple disciplines.

 

The role is Corporate Communications-specific but will also see work being done across a number of other functions and Employee Resource Groups such as UM Studios (in-house creative services arm), CSR, DEB (Diversity, Equity & Belonging) Council, Innovation/Emerging Tech Lab, and client accounts.  

Key Responsibilities

·       The Design Director is responsible for leading work from idea to delivery. This includes conception, design and production of presentations, printed materials, and digital assets.

·       In simple terms:

·       Tell stories through presentation design and incorporate new ways of visual communication

·       Generate, develop, and pitch innovative, award winning ideas

·       Provide thought leadership in technology, emerging media and cultural trends through design

Deliver, new and never been done before work from soup to nuts

Desired Skills & Experience

Education:

·       Bachelor's Degree required

Work Experience:

·       Previous experience as Designer

·        5-7+ years of creative experience in a similar role

 

Skills:

·       PowerPoint & Keynote

·       Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator at minimum)

·       Open communication

·       Design & people management

·       Positive attitude and team-player mentality     

·       Be open to travel when needed
