Position Summary

Mediabrands Content Studio (MBCS) is hiring a Financial Analyst for a key business partner role.  The candidate for this role will be detail oriented, adept at owning and handling large data sets, and be able to communicate their analysis with proposed solutions to Finance and the MBCS business partners.


The Financial Analyst, MBCS will assist the finance team in budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis, Staffing analysis and utilization, & key business partnership to the MBCS business leaders.  This person will interact primarily with the MBCS group of content experts as well as the MBCS finance team.  This role may also, to a lesser extent, interact with personnel within the IPG network and across our brands. Responsibilities include preparing various reports and providing insightful analysis on the financial performance of the business.  The role will be able to work independently and act as a trusted business partner with the Finance and Content Studio teams.  Key attributes are effective communication, ability to work independently and practice proactive project management.  This role will report to the Finance Manager for Mediabrands Content Studio.


Key Responsibilities

  •           Partner with MBCS Content and Production teams to create and price Staff Plans
  •           Create reporting, analyze and communicate Staff Utilization, funding levels, and Time Reporting as well as scope vs. actual hours
  •           Perform a monthly timesheet audit of hours billed to each creative or content project to track burn and ensure correct time entry.  Track variance reporting across time reporting versus scoped allocations for all US-based creative and content projects.  Report results of audit to Finance Manager, MBCS on a monthly basis
  •           Ownership of freelancer cost tracking, onboarding, and off-boarding in partnership with project teams and HR. Manage Purchase Order & accrual process for all freelancers and freelance related expense
  •           Partner with MBCS finance team, Shared Services, and key business partners in MBCS to create Purchase Orders, Code invoices, reconcile invoices to job funding, and ensure ultimate payment of invoices
  •           Work with Shared Services to open, extend, and close jobs
  •            Assist Finance Manager and Shared Services to manage Work-in-Process (WIP) jobs
  •            Assist in Financial Reporting and Analysis on Headcount/People Costs and G&A expenses: monthly close, quarterly forecast, annual budget, Mediabrands reporting templates and commentary, update within B&F financial system
  •            Assist in creating Scopes of Work
  •            Assist Finance Manager and partners with creative and content business teams to draft, review, and negotiate scopes of work (contracts) in partnership with other senior level stakeholders
  •           Assist in New Business asks from local agency brands
  •           Ad hoc/special projects
  •           Concur expense reports

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 1-3 years of accounting/finance experience preferably in a business partner role
  • Entertainment & Content experience is a plus
  • Collaborative approach and strong listening skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior computer skills, specifically significant Excel experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines; possession of strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to understand and establish appropriate priorities
  • Ability to multi-task while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate well with staff, clients, and vendors at all levels
