Position Summary

An exciting opportunity to join UM Core and play an investment leadership role across a dynamic portfolio of accounts.

UM Core is a unique and dedicated hub that delivers core media planning and buying services to select clients. As an integrated planning and buying team you will be working closely alongside Communications Planners from day one.

Key clients include Zurich Insurance, Pinterest, Western Union, Cathedral City, Rowse Honey, Reese’s, FSCS, Energizer, and Esso.

The Investment Director is tasked with playing a leading role within an integrated planning and buying team ensuring outstanding delivery across all the accounts. 

You will work closely with the Managing Partner and Communications Directors on some accounts whilst having autonomy to lead and manage other accounts within the team. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for holistic video planning, encompassing TV, VOD, OLV, cinema, and OOH TV 
  • Demonstrates an expert understanding of the media landscape in the UK, including digital and programmatic
  • Ensure regular interaction with Managing Partner and Comms Directors to develop an understanding of the latest business objectives across your client portfolio 
  • To create and implement the right process and procedures for effective day to day management of AV activity 
  • Responsible for the delivery of all activations across TV, VOD, Radio, Cinema and digital in-line with client expectations
  • Accountability:
  • on-going tracking of deliveries, submission of figures, attendance at reviews and to work seamlessly with Magna 
  • Ensuring that client specific commitments (e.g. pitch price and quality commitments) are understood and delivered across all media
  • Have direct client relationships and work alongside the Managing Partner and Comms Directors to ‘Sell in’ annual plans / large briefs across all AV channels.
  • Challenge strategy and ideas to ensure they are remarkable and inspirational for our clients
  • Ensures the team continue to deliver to the highest standards and are learning from your example.
  • To be the Investment figurehead on all clients within your portfolio
  • Lead by example. As a senior member of the agency your behaviours set the tone for the rest of the team. 
  • Encourage your teams to attend agency seminars and events and support the initiatives that are happening internally.  
  • Understand business and commercials to support decisions being made by management teams.
  • Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate the work activities of the team.
  • Work in partnership with HR and leadership team to ensure attraction, development and retention of top talent
  • Managing and mentoring junior team members with key focus on instilling core AV and digital buying skills
  • Ensure robust performance management (appraisal, goal-setting, ongoing feedback) as well as reviewing structures and job roles, identifying critical talent 
  • Supports team environment of experimentation and collaboration, creating a high standard within the agency
  • Stands by team and gives recognition even when things go wrong
  • Manages individual work styles and addresses team issues
  • Empowers individuals to embrace change whilst using vision as a guide to managing team direction
  • Strong personal insight – receives and reacts upon feedback opportunities
  • Self-starter who can work autonomously and remains composed under pressure

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Excellent in front of clients and in leading meetings and presenting to stakeholders
  • Experience in managing and coaching a team and enabling the development of those around you
  • Is experienced and well versed in all video and audio media and able to clearly articulate how communications are able to deliver a positive impact on our client’s business
  • A dedicated and motivated individual, who helps create and maintain a powerful team dynamic
  • Highly personable with a collaborative spirit, who develops good working relationships internally and externally with ease.
  • Good communication skills, familiar with developing strong client and industry connections 
  • Positive and proactive with a curious and creative mindset
  • Highly ambitious, with a thirst for continually learning and delivering an improved UM product 
  • A self-motivated and driven person who has an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to succeed and achieve
  • Strong admin skills and great attention to detail
  • Experience working on a range of brands, and across a wide range of channels.
