Position Summary

The Investment Partnerships Manager role is a critical role in the Partnerships team, with responsibility for managing the implementation planning and buying process for their assigned clients. This responsibility includes but is not limited to optimal media partner selection through thorough evaluation and rationale, negotiating campaigns, checking preliminary and final post buy delivery, tracking performance and ensuring delivery on campaign objectives. The Investment Partnerships Manager assists the Director with the management of the Partnerships team – developing skills, evaluating performance, setting standards and managing growth.
The Investment Partnerships Manager is tasked with being highly collaborative with Strategy and internal management teams along with developing and maintaining strong client facing relationships. The Manager drives the team to explore and identify new and non-traditional partnerships opportunities, including those across sport, content and brand experiences. This is critical to their development and the success of the overall Partnerships division.
As the front line face of Initiative’s relationship with media partners, the Partnerships team are responsible for ensuring all media owners are treated as true partners, with the respect and professionalism we expect from across our business. The Investment Partnerships Manager should guide our partners to embrace the belief that cultural experiences grow brands and to encourage our partners to deliver the best thinking in their responses to our briefs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responds to all client requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Collaborates with Account Directors and Management team to ensure alignment with and delivery against client KPI’s
  • Develops effective workflow across the group in order to meet deadlines and ensure appropriate skill levels required to meet client KPIs
  • Communicates client and product progress effectively to the team and craft leads
  • Prepare e-mails, recommendations, buy presentations and presentations to internal teams and clients
  • Developing excellent presentations skills internally and to all levels in the client organisation
  • Prepares POVs for targeted opportunities on an on-going basis for clients to further drive their business
  • Fosters knowledge of client’s business and its competitors to determine sufficient advertising and media needs and ensure plans are properly executed and delivered
  • Develops expertise in the client category, as demonstrated through competitive insights and knowledge of the category in investment negotiations and implementation recommendations
  • Displays ownership of the entire implementation process (media planning and buying) from start to finish within the team, championing deadlines both internally and externally for client base
  • Demonstrates expertise in implementation planning and buying across all channels and multiple categories
  • Manages the Partnerships team (Senior Executives, Executive, Associates) in the day-to-day activities for assigned clients, reviewing work for accuracy and adherence to deadlines
  • Accountable for overall excellence in the execution of campaigns throughout the team
  • Provide senior-level guidance and review schedules, research, POV’s and client presentations to ensure quality product and client-readiness
  • Ensures investment deliverables are met, as directed by the Investment Partnerships Director or client deals
  • Prepares planning costs and accompanying rationale for use in implementation recommendations
  • Collaborate with the Investment Partnerships Director to develop superior negotiation strategies that deliver maximum value, best in class rates and efficiency
  • Contributes to the ideation process with Strategy, working with them to ensure the ecosystem and cultural platform is brought to life through media implementation planning and remains true to the strategic direction
  • Collaborates well with SBUs to develop brave, exciting and integrated partnerships solutions
  • Administers creative implementation approaches with experienced use of data to rationalise media recommendations
  • Produces implementation recommendations that cover the appropriate media partner selection with accompanying rationale, implementation ideas, budget, goals and measurement (online metrics, R&F, TARPs, etc.) for all campaigns
  • Demonstrates excellent use of all core Mediabrands internal proprietary systems and external supplier systems, including the ability to draw insights from the results
  • Extracts constant, insightful and correct use of analysis data for both planning and buying, for use in client presentations, implementation recommendations and internal use
  • Assists in the resolution of issues with media partners (pricing, discrepancies, added value, campaign shortfalls, etc.)
  • Ensures the team provides clear and immediate communication to internal teams on changes or if things don’t go to plan with effective solutions or improvements for the next campaign
  • Maintain up to the minute knowledge of programming trends, competitive nuances, marketplace conditions and economic indicators that impact on Investment Partnerships
  • Prepare and present implementation recommendations and post campaign analyses to client, seeking input from craft leads and sharing with the team
  • Contributes to the development of a positive and motivating work environment for the team, delivering staff stability, recognition and constructive feedback
  • Contributes to the PDP process for the Associates and Executives prior to deadline and in conjunction with the Investment Partnerships Director, providing clear guidance around KPIs and development areas
  • Trains and mentors team members, ensuring excellence in skill development and execution across implementation planning and buying processes
  • Ensures the team adheres to same day BCC loadings across all media bookings pertaining to their nominated clients and according to the Magna best practice guidelines
  • Ensures delivery within the team of the Initiative standard for weekly tracking (ensuring in campaign delivery), buy summary, burst summary and post campaign analysis reports
  • Oversees management of the budget control of approved media campaigns, including invoicing, proforma checking and account queries 
  • Oversees the delivery of campaign measurement to accomplish broader communication and marketing objectives
  • Inform the team on a regular basis regarding the client’s business, media goals and objectives, KPIs and plans
  • Attends regular media meetings (e.g. media partner presentations, Initiative Ignite, buying meetings, etc.) to further develop media, market and industry knowledge
  • Seeks out MFA 5+ opportunities and other industry training programs to further develop industry knowledge
  • Displays exceptional professional rapport with media partners at GSM level across all disciplines and channels, with developing relationships with Sales Directors
  • Interprets the client/agency contract agreements and how it may impact scope of work, remuneration structure and key campaign KPIs
  • Develops and maintains media partner relationships
  • Negotiates pricing that reflects efficiencies and client objectives
  • Negotiates added value executions that support client objectives
  • Lead negotiations with key media partners, working with the Investment Partnerships Director as support

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Tenure guideline: 4+ years of media agency planning and buying experience
  • Proven leadership ability and/or prior experience in supervising a team preferred
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Australian media marketplace including the role of each media, understanding key media companies and their ability to deliver on campaign requirements
  • Developing leadership of the implementation planning process for clients, including planning responsibilities through to optimisations, invoicing and final post delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to think and execute “out of the box” ideas
  • Exceptional media sales relationships at Rep and GSM level and developing rapport with Sales Directors to deliver competitive advantage to our clients
  • Advanced user across all core investment media systems and planning tools
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
