Position Summary

The role of Senior Manager, Communications will work closely with the Director, Corporate Communications to define the strategy and develop integrated communications plans for all marketing and public relations activities, both external and internal, for Mediabrands Canada (MBC) and its agencies and specialty business units (SBU). In this role, the ideal candidate will implement the communications plans to support our Employer Branding strategy, our internal communications, and our cultural and community efforts, with the goal of bringing to life our values, leadership, culture, and capabilities, to attract and retain top talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute (in partnership with Talent/HR) a communication plan (internal and external) to drive forward our Employer Branding strategy including but not limited to culture and community initiatives/events/speaking opportunities, learning and development programs, recruitment, engagement and DEI key actions.
  • Create, lead and execute, with the support of the Assistant Manager, Marketing Operations, a yearly internal communications calendar including weekly and quarterly newsletters, video scripting/production of content, to keep employees informed about business performance and direction, promoting a strong company culture and staff engagement. 
  • Oversee the management of the Mediabrands Canada Intranet– including content plan and strategies for employee involvement.
  • Help to define and execute a social media and PR strategy to promote MBC and its agencies/SBU’s as a top employer and to build community and culture for current employees.
  • Work closely with the Director of Corporate Communications on the content plan and execution for each of the MBC brand websites. 
  • Liaise with Global Corporate Communications teams to ensure consistent messaging globally around key employee communications and initiatives (both internally and externally).
  • Work closely with Associate Director, Visual Communications on the development of key marketing materials supporting our Employer Branding strategy.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in corporate communications and/or PR.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications, and public relations activities, including social media.
  • Very strong writing and copy-editing skills essential.
  • Strong communicator with a bias for sharing information and motivating the organization.
  • Ability to successfully manage several large and interconnected projects simultaneously. 
  • Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and tight timelines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and resourceful approach to problem solving.
  • Track record of building solid internal and client relations at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of Office365 (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel), e-mail and event management software.
  • Bilingual in English and French is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or business-related field preferred.
  • Experience with the marketing and advertising communications industry is desired.
