Position Summary

You’ll be working across three of the most collaborative clients at UM; where the agency team are an extension of the clients business; working together building both brand and performance campaigns to deliver against client KPI’s. The clients are digitally pioneering with their 1st party data approach, usage of sophisticated technology solutions and focus on measurement, to provide best-in-market advertising solutions.

The Planning Director role will be responsible for the development and growth of 6 Senior Planning Managers and Planning Managers. The role is responsible for leading the UM planning product across paid and non-paid channels ensuring required deliverables are achieved, working closely with strategy, trading and the performance team to ensure we’re hitting client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive all Planning division members to develop a curious and rigorous approach to owned and earned opportunities.
  • Own the collaborative workflow across multiple stakeholders (internal and external). Work with other UM SBUs (Strategy, Integrated Planning, Client Advice and Trading) to help deliver the best outcome for our client KPIs.
  • Encourage and contribute to a positive working environment within team.
  • New business pitches on request.
  • Co-support the Group Directors to ensure performance goals are met and opportunities for growth exist within the team.
  • Collaborate with Strategy and Integrated Planning to ensure big ideas are translated to actionable channels across client briefs
  • Manage a diverse Planning team and collaborate with Trading hubs to deliver on campaign and help deliver on client business outcomes.
  • Lead education pieces with clients - all marketplace trends across multiple categories and how this may be relevant to their business.
  • Leading all core partnership and planning tools and systems.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Extensive stakeholder management- ensuring you're able to identify OESP opportunities and collaborate with UM craft specialities (BAE, strategy, Integrated Planning, Studios) to deliver on joined up thinking.
  • Passionate about media - you're excited about the future of the industry and have a fundamental and robust knowledge of the AU and NZ media landscape across multiple categories. You are also up to date with the latest media trends and how it impacts UM.
  • Management skills - you will be responsible for the output and development of 5-6 Senior Planning Managers and work closely with the Client leads and the trading teams.
  • Strong media relationships - you are a true business partner and go beyond the spots and dots brief.
  • Leadership - you are looked up to by all the Planning team and you demonstrate UM behaviours (goodness, pioneering and veracity).
  • Innovation – you know how to drive innovation and first to market opportunities for your clients.
