Position Summary

The role of the Senior Manager, Consumer Research is to oversee research projects for the Mediabrands agencies and clients, including brand health trackers, campaign effectiveness studies and consumer insights surveys. Besides having a full understanding of research methodologies and partners, the position also requires an understanding of the media planning/buying ecosystem, and syndicated consumer research studies. We are looking for an innately curious person who has a passion for consumer research and how it intersects with media planning and buying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management of Mediabrands consumer research offerings, development of new products and management of a team of analysts
  • Collaborate with agency leads to identify and implement custom client research; manage these projects from start to finish, including writing proposals, recommending methodology, designing surveys, and analyzing results
  • Collaborate with the MAGNA Media Trials team to implement media partner effectiveness studies
  • Participate in the selection of appropriate research suppliers
  • Review and make recommendations to improve Mediabrands global research studies
  • Run thought leadership research in conjunction with the agencies, speciality business units and marketing & communications team
  • Write and make presentations to clients and in public forums as appropriate
  • Attend internal and external media meetings/presentations as appropriate
  • Manage team of 2-3 research analysts
  •  Contribute to agency new business activities

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years experience with techniques and details of consumer insight research and project management
  • University education and/or marketing research college diploma; CMRP designation would be an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research techniques including digital research techniques
  •  Knowledge of syndicated consumer research studies (Vividata, Numeris RTS, GWI)
  •  Experience with Telmar or Nielsen Clear Decisions, including Correspondence and Cluster Analysis software
  • Solid understanding of the media planning environment in Canada
  •  Experience writing questionnaires and discussion guides
  • Track record of building solid internal and client relations
  • Working knowledge of survey design software (ie Qualtrics) and data analysis sodtware (Q, DisplayR)
