Position Summary

UM is looking for a seasoned, strategic, ambitious individual with extensive media planning experience and a passion for great work. Someone who has experience working effectively with diverse markets and cultures and who understands the nuances and advantages of working across a global network. A media pro who can contribute meaningfully to national and localized brand/communications work and help teams translate Brand ambitions into excellence evidenced in thoughtful,  nbusiness-driving media plans. A compelling communicator with an eye for creativity and an appetite for innovation.  A dreamer who is excited about what can be and yet a doer who is willing to roll up their sleeves to make it happen. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees media strategy & plan development at the national and local level 
  • Works directly with multiple inter-disciplinary teams to track implementation and campaign performance & reporting
  • Ensure budgets are fully utilized and properly tracked and reported by campaign and/or markets
  • Cultivate strong relationships with account leads to drive excellence, consistency and accountability across the network, from the top down and bottom up
  • Compile and synthesize final plan recommendations for leadership socialization, ensuring buy-in
  • Demonstrate network’s ability to execute against both global and local ambitions, via compelling local market activations, on strategy campaign activity and results-gathering, and best practice sharing to educate and inspire
  • Lead the development, socialization and implementation of UM best-in-class media planning and best practices 
  • Share & adopt best practices to improve operations & marketing effectiveness
  • Create a library of great and inspiring cases and identify pockets of excellence and innovation and find ways to make them scale
  • Manage ad hoc client requests in collaboration with account lead
  • Develop media strategies consistent with brand marketing objectives and selling strategy
  • Ensure plans deliver upon agreed KPI’s
  • Recommend targeted, innovative media vehicles consistent with media strategies
  • Inform budgetary discussions and incremental funding requests
  • Maintain relationships with all levels of client contact 
  • Manage client requests – i.e. plan changes, budget changes, provide marketplace information
  • Consistently bring new media and technology ideas to team for application/brainstorming

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration or communications 
Work Experience:
  • 7-10 years’ experience in media planning including three to five years management experience required
  • Experience in the CPG or Wine/Spirits category is a plus
  • Experience working national and local-market campaigns
  • Self-Starter, demonstrates Initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Thrives in fast-paced environment
  • High level of comfort presenting to clients and internal team members
  • Proven track record with client relations and growing existing business
  • Solid awareness of industry trends and planning/measurement models
  • Understanding of marketing and communications process; Planning, buying, managing, and optimizing across all channels (directly and/or consulting)
  • Digitally Savvy: Personally uses digital media, demonstrates passion for emerging media
