The Director of FP&A is a critical role within the Finance organization. The role is responsible for the creation and management of the overall US P&L, and management of global finance deliverables. This includes leading the generation of the annual budget (FP, BUD) and the subsequent forecast updates (1RE/2RE/3RE/4RE). In addition, they will be responsible for the monthly/quarterly close activities as required by Orion’s holding company, MediaBrands. This person will be asked to partner with US & Regional Finance leads in order to keep a “pulse” on the overall business. Orion’s revenue model makes this a unique role for a FP&A professional as it will require an understanding of multiple levers from both a client and media partner side to fully see the landscape of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the business teams through the development and management of the Budget (FP, BUD) and Forecasting (1RE, 2RE, 3RE, 4RE) 
    • Create, analyze and consolidate budgets, estimates and forecasts from local and regional Finance teams
    • Manage submission process from business teams into Finance FP&A system
    • Partner with US CFO & SVP Global Finance to organize and conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with business teams
  • Manage all relevant expense accounts within the US P&L. This includes Salary and Related, Occupancy, T&E, and all other Office & General (O&G)
  • Lead the development and delivery of monthly and quarterly deliverables to Mediabrands (monthly variance analysis, Flash submissions, etc…)
  • Support leadership in the preparation of executive management presentations and communications
  • Manage and develop 2 staff members (FP&A Manager and Sr. Financial Analyst)
  • Serve as primary point-of-contact for MediaBrands FP&A
  • Manage, maintain, and enhance FP&A systems (Khalix Longview, SAP)
  • Lead the creation and analysis of Client P&Ls
  • Calculate Management Service Fees for local agencies globally and review the related billing
  • Ad-hoc projects for senior management and parent company

Desired Skills & Experience

Work Experience:

  • 8-12 years of financial planning and analysis and/or budget experience

·        Media industry experience highly preferred.


  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, V-Lookups, etc. Experience with Macros preferred
  • Ability to lean and utilize several online platforms including SAP/Hyperion
  • Solid financial analysis skills and comfort with numbers
  • Demonstrates team collaboration skills
  • Proven experience presenting information orally and in writing
  • Experience in a fast paced, client service environment; a high sense of urgency, a positive attitude
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines, possession of strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to understand and establish appropriate priorities
