Position Summary

As a Partnerships Trader you are responsible for the implementation process across all paid media connections. You actively collaborate with your Trading Managers and Trading Directors to ensure best in market trading excellence.
 
This is a critical role within the agency ensuring;
  • The status and process of trading the paid components of the campaigns are known and championed from this level.
  • The constant, insightful and accurate use of data to drive trading decisions.
  • Intelligent analysis of trading propositions and audience information to provide insight to your senior Trading team.
  • Ensuring that all trading deliverables are met and the campaign delivers value to the client.
You are responsible for and respectful of the discipline of trading and its complexities. The use of data to underpin and rationalise your decisions is fundamental to your work.
 
In summary, the Partnerships Trader is the most integral member of the UM Australia Trading team and a cornerstone of the trading product we deliver for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver day-to-day Trading outputs for all clients you work across, including ensuring all elements of an approved Connections Plan are delivered and we deliver against all client contracted KPI’s.
  • Complete all reporting outputs – such as Buy Summaries, Burst Summaries, Post Analysis, Campaign Reviews, reporting tracking are all supplied in a timely manner and at the level expected by UM and our clients.
  • Work closely with business units to ensure delivery is as per planned outcomes. Works to help manage challenges faced.
  • Deliver day-to-day negotiations across paid connections channels to ensure required deliverables are achieved.
  • Identify and deliver on improved value for our clients over and above client negotiations.
  • Ability to start to evaluate proposals and negotiate costs based on targets set by Trading Managers/Directors.
  • Attend and actively participate in all weekly trading meetings providing timely updates on campaign performance.
  • Support the Planning team in providing information and data to help deliver Implementation Recommendations for your clients.
  • Build solid relationships with media partners across the Sales Assistant, Sales Executive and Trading Manager levels.
  • Ability to deliver a solutions focused rationale for challenges faced within the role – campaign outcomes, workload and timelines.
  • Present all relevant client reporting requirements such as but not limited to Buy Summaries, Post Campaign Reviews.
  • Attend required training as part of development.
  • Run analyses of TV and Radio ratings via industry tools, such as eTam and eRam, to develop insights that assist in the buying of activity. Expert level use of such tools.
  • Accurate and timely loading of activity into invoicing system, SMD, to ensure 100% compliance of client invoicing. Checking of all loaded activity against plans at invoicing time and running of proformas to ensure exactness.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Solid understanding of the media marketplace, market dynamics and audience trends.
  • Knowledge of industry tools to execute trades and deliver on campaign outcomes – business, media or both.
  • Expert knowledge of tools such as SMD, eTam, eRam and MOVE.
  • 12+ months experience in the media industry having shown a significant desire to progress within the industry.
  • Successful MFA TV foundations exams preferred
  • Knowledgeable and confidence in trading across all paid connections and multiple categories, including use of tools.
  • You have raw talent bringing together strong negotiations skills, outstanding interpersonal skills and a passion for your clients business.
  • Strong presentation skills and can communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Enthusiasm and an energy that excites others.
  • You have very good attention to detail.
