Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Head of Cross-Channel Partnerships is a senior leadership role, managing Amazon media investment strategy and implementation to deliver results across various channels, with a focus on Linear and Streaming Video. This role also oversees the internal US Accountability practice for Amazon across all media channels.

The Head of Cross-Channel Partnerships must act as a strategic partner and integrated buying leader for Amazon, driving collaboration, excellence and quality of product to deliver the most strategic, holistic, and integrated investment solutions. This role requires someone with experience across all facets of media and a strong expertise in the Video space including driving value in the video marketplace, crafting strategic partnerships and advising clients with strong POVs.  This role must be in the marketplace on an ongoing basis to ensure Amazon is first to market with new opportunities and elevating Amazon with senior sales leads.

Client:

  • Develop cross-channel partnership solutions, amplified across all paid, owned and earned environments
  • Partner with Initiative’s Communication Design, Strategy, Analytics and Business Leaders to build outstanding relationships with clients based on trust, advocacy in the marketplace and a clear understanding of clients’ business objectives
  • Provide strong POVs to clients with rationale and data aligned to their marketing and business objectives
  • Develop the go-to-market strategy with an emphasis on the Upfront and other long term/larger partnerships
  • Act as a catalyst for innovation & experimentation that drives cutting edge investment solutions
  • Articulate and synthesize various trends and behaviors emerging in the marketplace to ensure our teams make them real in recommendations to clients
  • Elevate media partner relationships to drive client opportunities, first looks, break through barriers, etc.
  • Demonstrate expertise in reaching diverse audiences through strategic partnerships and advanced media tactics

Internal:

  • Lead various media investment (Partnerships) teams across retail, streaming, tech and grocery categories. Establish an environment of collaboration and teamwork within greater team and also between crafts (Comms Design, Strategy, etc.)
  • Inspire teams to push boundaries and exhibit the core behaviors of Initiative 
  • Ensure investment teams are regularly applying best in class tools and processes to deliver recommendations that drive client KPIs and business objectives
  • Ensure proper briefings and updates to partners
  • Lead US Accountability practice to ensure contractual methodology is followed and value is delivered to Amazon
  • Active engagement with MAGNA council to develop marketplace approach, planning costs, support partnerships 
  • Hands on leadership to ensure flawless execution with key operational processes including but not limited to:
    • Stewardship of the buys
    • Audit process/accountability on media rates
    • Reporting – buy schedules, posting, digital reporting
    • Billing – financial accountability
  • Facilitate intelligent investment techniques in partnership development, negotiation, evaluation and stewardship in order to deliver maximum strategic value and efficiency
  • Facilitate self-education through industry events, cross-training and rotational opportunities, and regular consumption and dialogue around industry news and developments

Commercial:

  • Ensure alignment and execution of the Amazon commercial agreement including pricing, staffing and KPIs for success
  • Facilitate organic growth opportunities with clients not only for Initiative, but across IPG MediaBrands
  • Support and collaborate with all IPG MediaBrands Specialized Business Units (SBUs) for maximum effectiveness and seamless integration with client business
  • Support MAGNA aggregate negotiations across all media channels

Client:

  • Drives innovation and thought leaderships for client(s)
  • Contributes an integrated, cross-channel POV and seeks ways to extract value for clients beyond paid media
  • Leverages key relationships to drive advantages for Amazon in the marketplace
  • Successful Upfront negotiations to deliver on goals
  • Actively presents recommendations and handles client challenges
  • Brings forward new ideas and first to market opportunities
  • Excellent media marketplace, negotiation and landscape guidance
  • Flawless implementation

Internal:

  • Inspire teams to develop brilliant work in a collaborative working environment
  • Partner with MAGNA to lead strategic marketplace strategy, cost projections and identify key partners
  • Institute stewardship/optimization techniques to drive constant and regular improvement.
  • Participate in agency and external personal growth & education initiatives including providing learning opportunities for the team
  • Positive collaboration partner to MB SBUs

Commercial:

  • Delivers on client efficiency goals
  • Supports and delivers on MAGNA agency-wide media partnership targets
  • Ensures and advocates for agency partner relationships
  • Supports and delivers SBU spending target budget is met or exceeded

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in Investment, with strong expertise in Video and managing the Upfront marketplace for a large client, though knowledge of all media channels is critical
  • 5+ years’ experience managing and developing large staffs across multiple teams
  • Strong relationships with senior sales leads across all top partners within Broadcast and Digital
  • High attention to detail and strong operational capabilities
  • Experience developing solutions for clients with an understanding of the unique (and combined) roles played by different channels within an overall communications solution
  • Strong media marketplace knowledge and understanding of what drives the most successful agreements between media partners, clients and agencies
  • Ability to build strong, trust-based relationships with clients, to make an impact on their business, and to showcase the talent and accomplishments of full team
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional management, organizational and responsiveness skills
