Position Summary

The Senior Negotiator, Partnerships has responsibilities including managing national & regional campaigns, negotiating buys, checking preliminary and final post buy delivery, and tracking performance. The individual is tasked with developing and maintaining strong client relationships as well as media owner ones.    

We drive best in class negotiation & education of the more junior reports in the team. Planning & buying Digital, Press & Cinema campaigns is at the heart of this role.

Key Responsibilities

Client
  • Provide a meaningful contribution toward client presentations (POVs, opportunities and e-mail recommendations)
  • Responsiveness and superior client service- ability to answer client in a clear & timely manner. 
  • Collaborate with Comms Design, Analytics and Client Advice and Management to ensure alignment with and delivery against client KPI’s
  • Update status documents for client meetings
  • Stay knowledgeable about client’s business and its competitors to determine sufficient advertising and media needs and ensure plans are properly executed and delivered
Internal
  • Effectively manages time and responsibilities for self, to ensure deadlines are adhered to and workflow is managed properly
  • Guide Negotiators on how to approach negotiations and assist team member(s) when they hit a roadblock - offer new approaches that Negotiator can take to problem solve 
  • Responsible for double checking all of team's work
  • Excellent communication skills with vendors and management (keeps management updated with progress/completion of projects)
  • Collaborate with other disciplines/SBUs to integrate and execute seamlessly - begin/assist in problem solving to generate positive results
  • Participates in meetings with internal team & external partners, by asking and answering questions, has the ability to lead when necessary
  • Begin to develop a POV to be shared with managers, on marketplace conditions and vendor proposal/plan feedback
  • Help with wider agency work – helping on pitch submissions and ideations session 
Commercial
  • Develop and maintain media partner relationships
  • Negotiate pricing that reflects efficiencies and client’s objectives/targets
  • Ensure understanding of MAGNA negotiation priorities
  • Check/manage client billings, approve monthly billing drafts within deadlines
  • Understand the role that SBUs can play in helping to deliver on client objectives
  • Ensures and advocates for agency partner relationships by taking in person meetings, responding quickly to emails and voicemails, providing rationale when we are unable to work with a partner

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent work experience (1-2 years within a media agency) 
  • Proven leadership ability and/or prior experience in supervising a team preferred 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Desktop software, specifically Excel and Word, PowerPoint preferred
  • Strong developed relationships with the Publishers
  • Ability to work successfully within a team, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines under pressure 
  • Strong analytical abilities and quantitative skills, including math proficiency 
  • Ability to effectively utilize media research and reporting resources 
  • Specific Media Tools – Prisma, MX suite of programs, Mediatel, Addynamix
