Position Summary

The role is for the Carlsberg Global account, operating in +31 markets, in a fully decentralised model, where all planning & buying is done locally. The global team’s role is to ensure network excellence, network consistency, and driving global projects/roadmaps. The director will be client facing and a lead point of contact for all local markets. The director will manage a ‘Manager’. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the account, delivering account stewardship to account team, agency regional teams and clients.
  • Ensure Network Excellence, by staying in constant contact with the markets, and performing ongoing due-diligence checks with the Manager on Network Requirements (Manager to lead, Director to support and check-in. Ensuring key/lead markets are following global strategies/direction, that all markets report on their planned spends and campaigns through tools such as Lumina, etc.)
  • Work with team to build & deliver relevant templates/guides/global projects to markets ensuring greater network consistency.
  • Work with the team on building annual summits, leveraging best case study work from markets, learnings/recommendations, and showcasing new trends/ways to up our capabilities.
  • Lead client dialogue on key global projects, representing the agency and other disciplines and facilitate regular status meetings and calls.
  • Lead and oversee the development of client presentations and documents, such as global campaign reports, competitive reviews, trends reports and quarterly business reviews.
  • Supervise and direct a network of local markets. This includes building strong working relationships with market CAM leaders/local market agency management teams and providing guidance and support especially on commercial, contractual and relationship matters.
  • Lead with the Operations Director TRR requirements. Confirming TRR database (central and markets) is updated.
  • Monitor and interpret TRR results, developing appropriate action plans and lead their implementation (with support from CAM Group Director and Operations team).
  • Ensure the different disciplines (CAM, Comms Design, CIA etc) and respective discipline leads work to one aligned vision and brief. Ensure everyone working on the account is producing high-quality work that is fully aligned with the client’s brief, priorities, business and marketing targets and other mandatories, in a timely fashion.
  • Develop full immersion into the clients’ business, industry, competitors, priorities as well as marketing and business ambitions and act as a confident consultant and partner to senior client contacts in discussing briefs, priorities and workstreams.
  • Build strong working relationships with day to day clients, partner agencies and key CAM counterparts in local market agency teams and ensure regular alignment about client projects and priorities.
  • Oversee the creation of robust project timing plans and ensure their implementation for the timely delivery of projects.
  • Work closely with the operations director to establish and implement solid operational excellence frameworks, including tools, process documentation, operating manuals and financial/invoicing tracking. 
  • Organise and lead key client meetings including managing of internal and external participants.
  • Lead regular update/status meetings with clients and agency stakeholders. Support the CAM team during sensitive client conversations and escalate any issues requiring more senior attention to the CAM lead, as appropriate.
  • Support negotiation and drive creation of scopes of work (SOW), staffing plans and work closely with commercial teams and local markets to create solid, profitable commercial agreements.
  • Support the CAM leadership in monitoring the profitability of the account by independently reviewing resource utilisation, proactively flagging areas of concern and supporting the development and implementation of action plans where required.
  • Proactively identify potential areas of organic revenue growth (out of scope projects, new markets, cross-IPG opportunities) and support the CAM lead to convert these opportunities.
  • Supervise a CAM account manager, provide supervision of day to day delivery and ensure client work is delivered on time and to the highest possible quality standard.
  • Identify key areas of personal and professional development for the CAM Manager.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Strong holistic understanding of media strategy and planning across all channels (offline and online media, including social media and programmatic), with actual planning & buying experience in at least one digital channel.
  • Strong experience in global/multi-market agency account management, preferably with pervious exposure to decentralised client organisations.
  • Experience on B2C brands and especially FMCG preferred.
  • Previous hands-on media planning and/or buying experience in a local market preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills, with the ability to track multiple timelines in sometimes high-pressure situations.
  • Strong experience with MS Office tools, especially PowerPoint (presentation design) and Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, formulas, formatting).
  • Experience leading a small team (1 direct) with a strong grasp of people management, team motivation and talent development.
